Anemometer
The blade at the top acts as a wind vane. The smallest end faces the wind.
Altostratus
Layer clouds of medium height. The clouds are thin and often give a watery look to the sky because they only partly block out the Sun. They are sheets of cloud with no bands
of clear sky in-between. While not making rain themselves, altostratus clouds often signal the approach of a weather front and rain.
Altostratus – Altostratus is often shown as a thin ‘watery’ sky.
Anemometer
The three cups at the bottom catch the wind and spin the shaft around.
Anemometer
An instrument for measuring wind speed. It consists of three cups mounted on a central tube. As
the wind fills the cups, they spin around and the speed of rotation
is used to measure the wind. In modern anemometers the speed is shown on a digital scale, and the data is usually entered directly into a computer for processing.
