Waterworks

What is a waterworks? A waterworks is a place designed to treat water from a river or lake and purify it so that it is suitable for drinking.

Waterworks.

Waterworks go under many names, such as water treatment plant. It is a water supply process, rather than a waste water treatment process as would happen in a sewage works. It contains a range of ponds and filters designed to remove sediment and kill bacteria.

Water leaving a waterworks goes directly into the public supply.
