War memorial

What is a war memorial? A war meorial is a statue or building which is dedicated to the memory of the people who were killed in a war.

A village war memorial.

A war memorial is some kind of monument or plaque which is set up as a place where people can remember the fallen in war.

In Britain, the war memorials date from just after the First World War because so many people had been killed that the country felt it was important to remember them in every parish and borough throughout the country.
