Queen Cleopatra

Who was Queen Cleopatra? Queen Cleoptra was Queen of Egypt in Roman times.

Queen Cleopatra with her son at the temple of Dendara, Egypt.

Cleopatra was one of the last rulers of Egypt. But she was not really an absolute ruler because by that time Egypt was part of the Roman Empire, although the Romans believed in allowing most of its provinces to rule themselves.

In mythology, Cleopatra is famous for her romances with Romans Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony and for committing suicide by having a snake (an asp) bite her.
