Organic Food

What is organic food? Organic food is food which has been produced without artificial fertilisers or pesticides.

Organically farmed chickens.

Organic food is food produced in ways which are believed by some people to be better for the environment and healthier for plants and animals than normally grown and reared food.

To be officially classed as organic, products from farms need to be free of certain pesticides and artificial fertilisers. Many countries have regulations to say which foods can be called organic when put out for sale.

There is very little evidence that organic food is better for you than normally-grown food. But if you wish to support organic methods, then that is a choice for you.
