Poles are the places on the Earth that are furthest from the Equator. They are among the coldest places on the planet, and home to threatened wildlife. The pole is also the point at which the Earth's axis meets the surface.
The North Pole is the most northerly point of the rotating globe. The South Pole is the most southerly point of the rotating globe.
All rotating bodies such as stars, planets and moons have a North and a South Pole.
On the Earth, the North Pole is in the arctic region and the South Pole is in the antarctic region.
