Last Supper

What was The Last Supper? The Last Supper was the occasion when Jesus explained that He was to die, and where He offered wine and bread as symbols of His blood and body.

Last Supper.

The Last Supper is the final meal that Jesus shared with his Disciples in Jerusalem before His crucifixion. The Last Supper is represented by Maundy Thursday (because the Crucifixion is Good Friday). The Last Supper has been used down the ages as the basis for the Eucharist, or Holy Communion.

The Last Supper took place towards the end of the week, after Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. During the meal Jesus tells them of His betrayal by one of those present (Judas), as well as saying that before the next morning Peter will deny knowing Him.

Jesus takes bread, breaks it and gives it to the Disciples, saying: "This is my body which is given for you". Jesus also washed the feet of the Disciples, and gave a new commandment "to love one another as I have loved you".
