What is a forcemeter? A forcemeter is a way of measuring some kinds of force by using a spring in a tube.

There are many kinds of forcemeter, such as the scales shown in the picture. Scientists use a special spring in a tube. It is called a forcemeter and it can measure sideways forces as well as the down forces measured by scales.
