Daisy

What is a daisy? A daisy a name for a wide variety of plants with flower heads that have a yellow centre and white petals. They are common in gardens.

Lawn daisies.

Ox-eye daisies.

Daisies are a common lawn plant, but you also find much taller varieties, often known as ox-eye daisies.

The flower of a daisy is actually many tiny flowerheads all packed together, each with a single petal. Have a look at one with a hand lens to see that is true.

Most daisies will have a tap root or fibrous roots. They keep their growing points very close to the ground, which is why mowing a lawn will not affect them.

They flower throughout the summer.
