Aragonite

What is aragonite? Aragonite is a form of limestone.

Aragonite is one of the two common, naturally occurring, crystal forms of calcium carbonate. The other is the mineral calcite.

Aragonite's crystals are easy to spot because they often form interlocking twins as shown in this picture. Some people think these shapes look a bit like flowers.The reddish colour is iron within the crystal. The pure crystal would be transparent.
