Amazon

What is the Amazon? The Amazon is the world's largest river, and which drains much of South America to the Atlantic Ocean.

The snake-like Amazon river winding through the rainforest, giving it much needed water, nutrients, and a habitat for wildlife.

The Amazon covers much of the northern part of the continent of South America. The Equator runs through the Amazon.

In the west lie the Amazon headwaters on the slopes of the high Andes Mountains, but the vast majority of the Amazon is low-lying plain that stretches as far as the eye can see.

The Amazon eventually flows out to the South Atlantic Ocean, but at this point it is so wide that you cannot see from one bank to the other.
