The polyester Terylene is produced by heating a mixture of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol.

condensation polymerisation: where a water molecule is eliminated as every link in the polymer chain is formed.
ester: organic compounds, formed by the reaction of an alcohol with an acid, which often have a fruity taste.
Synthetic fibres such as nylon and polyester are cheap to manufacture and are used for most modern clothing.
