Hawaiian volcanoes

What are Hawaiian volcanoes? Hawaiian volcanoes are basalt volcanoes that make up the islands of Hawaii.

A Hawaiian volcano.

Hawaiian volcanoes are those where the lava is mostly very hot and runny basalt. These kinds of volcanoes are found only on ocean floors (Hawaii) or where the Earth's crust is pulling apart (Iceland). They rarely give tall cones and only produce small amounts of ash compared to other types of volcano.
