atmosphere The envelope of gases that surrounds the Earth and other bodies in the universe.
condensation The change of state from a gas or vapor to a liquid.
disk A shape or surface that looks round and flat.
inner planets The rocky planets closest to the Sun. They are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.
matter Anything that exists in physical form.
nebula (pl. nebulae) Clouds of gas and dust that exist in the space between stars.
orbit The path followed by one object as it tracks around another.
outer planets The gas giant planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune plus the rocky planet Pluto.
plane A flat surface.
planet Any of the large bodies that orbit
the Sun.
solar system The Sun and the bodies orbiting around it.
sun The star that the planets of the solar system revolve around.
universe The entirety of everything there is; the cosmos.
