Hydrogen chloride gas
Hydrogen chloride gas is produced by reacting the gases hydrogen and chlorine. The reaction is an example of combustion without oxygen.
Hydrogen chloride gas is colourless. The white fumes seen in these pictures are produced as the gas contacts moist air and forms small droplets of hydrochloric acid.
 Hydrogen gas is produced by reacting an acid on a metal. The small flame shows that the gas is inflammable hydrogen.
