acid rain: rain that is contaminated by acid gases such as sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides released by pollution.
Greenhouse Effect: an increase of the global air temperature as a result of heat released from burning fossil fuels being absorbed by carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
refining: separating a mixture into the simpler substances of which it is made. In the case of a rock, it means the extraction of the metal that is mixed up in the rock.
