Stainless steel
Stainless steels are a range of alloys based on iron. The name comes from the property of such steel to resist reactions with many other substances which may cause surface staining and rusting.
The most common stainless steels are iron- based alloys with a very high resistance to rusting and corrosion. This is because of their chromium content, which is greater than that found in other types of steel.
The most common stainless steel is made with 18% chromium, 8% nickel and 0.15% carbon. This is the type of stainless steel used for making everyday items such as cutlery.

 Saws need to remain sharp for as long as possible. Many of the best-wearing blades are made from tungsten steel. The tungsten makes the steel considerably harder and it is used in, for example, hard-wearing drills.
