Gd see Gadolinium Hassium (Hs)
Element 108.Also formerly called unniloctium (Uno). It is an artificial radioactive element belonging to the transition metals in the Periodic Table. Hassium comes from the Latin word Hassias which means Hessen, a state in Germany.
Hassium has properties similar to osmium. Only a few atoms have ever been made in a nuclear reactor. Hassium decays very quickly as it gives out alpha particles.
Discovery
It was discovered in 1984 byWest German researchers Peter Armbruster, Gottfried Münzenber and others at the Institute for Heavy Ion Research.
Technology
It has not yet been used for anything.
Geology
It is not found naturally.
Biology
It has no use in living things. Because it is a radioactive element, it would be potentially harmful if it were ever produced in significant quantities.
