(Below) Positions of life of brachiopods. Lingula was a burrowing brachiopod, most others lived on the surface. Many attached themselves to rocks, but some had large spines, which they used to stabilise themselves on a sandy sea floor.
A spiriferid brachiopod. It has wide ‘wings’. It lived in rocky places.
A productid brachiopod.
It is large and very bulbous. Many had spines.
Terebratulid brachiopod used its pedicle to attach itself to rock.
An orthid lived on the sandy sea bed.
Lingula burrowed in the sand.
